Woh, having no internet at work SUCKS! It makes me wonder what people did before it was around LOL! Anyway.. heres yesterdays post (lets pretend?!)...
Had a pretty good weekend, Martin and I went down to the pub early to discover it was cram packed already. I managed to pinch a seat beside my next door neighbour and her friend who eventually left so there was room for us all in the end.
Saturday was good, no really, it was. I'll have to forget that though as all I have on my mind today is 'The Passion' which I went to see last night. It was the most moving & powerful piece of film I've ever seen. I must admit I was a little nervous at the thought of seeing it after all I'd heard and read, and I was right to be. In certain parts I had to force myself to watch, knowing I probably wouldn't want to watch it again.
After hearing the story countless times over the years, sometimes in gruesome detail, I had my own picture in my mind of how I imagined events unfolding. And it looks as though Gibson's is very similar. I did not think the violence was 'over the top' or 'uncalled for'. That is how I imagine it would have been. I don't have the words to describe how deeply this film has affected me, I felt I was being beaten and crucified too. At some points I couldn't see the screen for my tears.
There were five of us that went along, after the film finished the whole place was silent, we were silent, and I was speechless. All the way back in the car not five sentences were spoken between us - I am emotionally drained. I didn't sleep too well at all, the images will stay with me for a while i think.
This film to me was like a slap in the face, the harsh reality of what Jesus did for me puts my now seemingly insignificant daily struggles to the back of my mind. He suffered more than any other, mentally, physically and spiritually, and all because he chose to for the love of us, for the love of me. And I cannot begin thank Him enough.
[realtime] Since I'm partially internetless my lunchtimes (and skive-times ;) are spent playing Burgertime or Frogger or... writing poems! Heres my poetic response to the evening I saw the Passion..[/realtime]
List’ning to you breathe
Ignoring your advances
My mind on one thing
Flesh ripping apart
Unimaginable pain
It was all my fault
Stunned into silence
In awe of Your sacrifice
needed wake up call
A squandered goodbye
Immediate regretting
Why did I do that?
Here I lie awake
With You all over my mind
Anxious and sweating
I’ll miss you this week
This will be the hardest part
Knowing you need help
I wish you’d have said
I’d have held you in my arms
Now we’ll have to wait
Gruelling flashbacks
Every five minutes or so
Melancholy heart

Gah! No internet access at work today because of a major fire in Manchester.
Lots to say, but I already typed it all at work! I'll post tomorrow :)

Now it IS friday yay! It looks like I may get to see 'The Passion' this weekend after all. We're thinking of cancelling the youth group this sunday in protest of their recent bad behaviour, so we'd be able to go then. (Heres hoping)
Should be a good one tonight, Martins bringing all his many lady friends from his place of work and theres a Robbie Williams impersonator on, hehe.

No lunchtime zefranking for me today :(

This weeks going pretty quick so far, even though its quite quiet at work, and I haven't done anything! A gave kungfu a miss last night, been having major troubles with my wisdom tooth. Yesterday it gave me headache and I kept going dizzy - ugh. Seems to have gone now though (temporarily).
I'm desperate to see 'The Passion' which is showing from tonight, but I dont know when we'll get round to going. It seems we're not all free on the same night for the next week or so :( maybe I'll just go without them all, hehe. No doubt I'll be in floods of tears so I'll need at least one person there to console me..
I had a brainwave of going into Manchester to see the 8 o' clock screening on saturday, then hitting the town afterwards, but then remembered that Graham (who has already seen it via a pirated dvd) said he didn't want to see it again, we can't exactly leave him out, not on a saturday night anyway, so that buggered that plan up, doh! *head in hands*

Weekend summary: A good one :)
Friday night seems such a long time ago now, we did the usual, and Damian joined us, which was nice. We had good laugh, this guy Alan invited us all back to his place to carry on drinking, but only Martin and Ryan went. Damian and I had to be ok for the wedding and so, we caught an early(ish) night.
I got up early on saturday to give my voice a chance to wake up too :D Carted all my drums downstairs and got ready. It was SO windy, gale force and rain to go with it, lovely day for a wedding! LOL! I dont know why I bothered doing my hair! I took my drums to church and started setting up which didn't take too long. We had a soundcheck and waited for people to arrive. They all seemed to come in at once and with fifteen minutes to go we played a little *background music* We'd never played for a wedding before so I think all three of us were pretty nervous as 1 'o clock drew closer we fixed our eyes to the back of the room awaiting the signal. It was quite a nice service, we played well and the church was packed out. Jeanette managed not to cry. It was quite a relief when it was over and everything had gone smoothly. A couple of people complemented us, which was nice. After people had left we packed away and set up church. Had a bit of a hair-raising experience on the way home. As I turned into my backings I noticed some debris falling into the road ahead of me, I looked up to the flats and saw a roof slate falling off, luckily in fell straight down and not on top of my car, I didn't hang around too much longer!
I got ready for the evening do, and went with Phil up to his house. Everyone else came at 4.30pm and we ordered chinese takeaway. I shared a portion of duck and plum sauce and fried rice with Lauren. It was lovely, we chilled for a bit and caught taxis to the party at 8. It was strange that Phil knew all of Jeanettes family, being her ex-boyfriend and all. He spent a bit of time talking to them, but I didn't mind. The room was huge and drafty, even though there were a lot of people. It soon warmed up once people hit the dancefloor.
I bumped into my P.E. teacher from school, I can't believe he recognised me. We had a little chat, I reminded him of my name and he asked what I was up to, even more amazingly he asked if I had a brother! I said "Yeah, Antony?" then he remember him too! I changed the subject quickly before he asked me what he was up to.. what a conversation killer that'd have been "Well.. hes dead!" And he would've felt awful, I saved him! :D
Phil and I chatted to this other guy when we were stood at the bar, one of Jeanettes uncles, he complemented me on my drumming and Phil explained that he was a drummer himself, he was a really nice bloke and didn't refuse when I jokingly suggested he should give me lessons, he can't play anymore due to severe arthritis in his wrists - but he could still teach me. Maybe I'll get in contact with him.
The beers flowed, I can't remember how much we had, which is never a good sign. I danced and then danced some more. The DJ was crazy, he kept getting changed the whole time into daft outfits/wigs etc. Mildly amusing I suppose, I didn't like him though cause he wouldn't play Run DMC when we wanted to breakdance - dammit.
They shut the bar at like 10.55pm which no-one was chuffed about. So we headed across the road for a few more before jumping in a black cab home a few hours later. It was a good night.
The Mothers day service was pretty cool - there were a lot of new faces there. That afternoon Phil and I took Damian to Piccadilly train station. The weather was foul again so I think he appreciated that! We got some munchies on the way back for at Grahams that evening where we watched the Lion King - again. Hehe. The end of Charlies Angels was on five and after that was Starsky and Hutch! I hadn't seen that in years and it was good to see before the inevitable trip to the cinema for the new film. However we had to wait for what seemed like an age before Huggy Bear came on, then and only then could we go! Fabulous.

Last night turned out ok. Faith turned up on her motorbike on time and we had a little chat and she got changed. She'd been to Liverpool Cathedral, which has the most amazing stained glass windows. I'd been there a few years ago and taken some cool photos. I dug out my photo/sources book from uni and we had a little reminising session :)
I was all set for going to the official Guinness party at the Rose of Lancaster, but lazy arse Phil was whinging about having to walk all the way there. So we went in the Spring Vale for the first and I sulked until I got my way ;) it was so worth it for the fabulous hat I got after drinking 5 pints. And then we visited the Chippy on the way home, the one I used to sneak out to when I was at school in my lunchbreak. Its still just as nice as it was then, the chips and curry went down a treat, and I didn't even spill any!!
Faith and I stayed up and chatted for a while and then hit the sack, then this morning she zoomed off into the distance making all the local dogs bark! hehe

"Top o' the mornin' ta yah!"
"And the rest o' the day ta you."
A proper irish greeting this St' Pats day. Yes many Guinnesses (plural Guinni?!) shall be drank tonight :D although our numbers shall be small. My mate from uni, Faith, is coming to visit me tonight though on her way back from Liverpool. She's gonna kip over so she'll be joining us for the black stuff. Then there'll only be Phil, Martin and I. Ryan is being presented with his Gold Duke of Edinburghs award at St James Palace today, he won't be back in time. And Graham has a meeting of some kind. I doubt Lauren will come but I'll invite her anyway.
Martin will surely bring his mouth organ which is always good fun. Apparantly in the mailing he got sent from Guinness, it listed all the places that were having an official Guinness St Pats Party. So we're going to the Rose of Lancaster, which was in the said list. Normally they give away something after you drink 5 pints. Last year it was 'Shamrock Shades' and one year it was these cool hats (this was before I liked Guinness) they were like a top hat made to look like a pint of Guinness - I so want one, hope its them again :)

Had a hilarious night on friday, Martin got sent a mouth organ from Guinness for the St Pats celebrations complete with a little book of tunes to play! We had a lot of fun with that and ended up in stitches for most of the night :D
Did little on saturday, just nipped into town for a wedding card in the afternoon, had tea and then watched the 'Stars in their eyes' grand final (too much excitement!) We were down in numbers that evening, just Ryan, Lauren, Phil and I at the pub. But we still had fun, Phil and Ryan stupidly challenged the darts players to a duel while Lauren and I sat and laughed at their attempts. I got through a few pints and Lauren and I shared a couple of bottles of red. Unaware of just how drunk she was becoming I said she could crash at my place, if she wanted. So she did, and preceded to throw up all over me and my house! She apologised profusely in the morning. You know you have a good friend when they clean up your sick! LOL!
Church rocked with all my choices of songs, and my group was good too, I actually got a discussion going!! Then that afternoon was the Manchester derby, Martin, Phil and I all gatecrashed the home of the Galligans (avid City supporters) and we brought them luck with a 4 - 1 thrashing of United - fantastic. The youth meeting was hard work that evening. One of the lads smashed one of the lights with a football on purpose, that took and age to clean up with tiny shards of glass everywhere. I can't believe how disrespectful they all are, for property, us, and each other. I'm finding it really tough to stay calm with them and it scares me.

Not been up to much this week. Brigade has started again, they were pretty uncontrolable last night, two snooker cues got broken in half, I dont think we'll ever find out what REALLY happened. Ah well, a good few deserved pints were consumed afterwards :) they've got some cool new Fosters glasses complete with an outline of Australia embossed on the side, theres only about six, we truly are the privileged regulars!! Although I do think the jukebox conned me out of my last song (either that or I pressed the wrong number!) I'm growing to really love this pub, mainly cause I like all the people there.. (the 'heavies', the 'darts gang', the 'singers' and of course Dirty Harry in the corner) and the staff are nice too. And its a LOT closer to where most of us live :) I think we go there tonight :D

Pretty fun weekend :) Did the usual on friday, I had many beers and Lauren and I shared a bottle of red. Dave and Gail invited us all back to their house afterwards for chilli which was lovely, and Gail gave us more wine (!!) Apparently they showed us a picture of their son (a member of our youth group) in only a leopard-skin thong (cant remember that bit, and quite pleased about it) and Lauren and I were a little shocked when the said son decided to take a pee in the back garden in full view of both of us (this is normal behaviour?) But it was a good night, in the end.
On saturday the six of us went for a meal at The Summit. I had a "whole hog" (steak, gammon & egg, chicken, bacon, sausages, black pud, chips, onion rings, mushrooms, & peas!) Very nice, but conversation was sparse in the pub following that as we were all falling asleep, in a post christmas dinner stylee!
Went to the Rose last night for the first time in ages. I had a pint of guinness at first which I didn't enjoy, so Lauren and I had wine again. Too much wine.
Oh yeah, and I get to choose songs for next sunday, and I'm drumming. All my faves YAY!
and my comments aren't workin' :( help!?

I got to train last night as theres no Brigade for two weeks, I figured I'd make the most of it. It was fun too, there seems to be a better mix of people go on thursdays (i.e. girls!) whereas on tuesdays its just me and 20 guys. Too bad I cant go then regularly.
When I got home I got showered, ready and made it to the pub in 25 minutes flat - impressive eh? I also managed to have as many drinks as Phil, who'd already been there an hour ;)

Pretty good last night although the place was dead. I got Phil an 8-pint keg of Stella which he seemed *chuffed with and a couple of dvds, Two Towers and the Lion King, yes, the Lion King (his choice)
I seem to have developed a bad habit of late. Sending stupid text messages to a certain person after I've had too much to drink. I'm sure this person must secretly be a bit sick of me doing this, despite the pleasant replies. I'll make a concious effort to stop, I think. After coming close to saying something I would have regretted. *heehee, bet thats got "y'all" wondering!!*
*chuffed = pleased

I'm having a stress-free day today (so far!) Its Phils birthday today so we're going out for a drink tonight, hopefully everyone will turn up :)
A new supermarket has just opened in the town centre, Phil and I went for a nosy last night, its *huge* and they have some very nice stuff in, nice clothes too - Jeff Banks stuff even! I got myself a lovely new top :D
What an exciting life I lead...

Average weekend. Same old, same old. Friday night we went to our local, just me, Phil and Martin. It was alright, pretty good band, then afterwards Martin & I hit the town for a boogie. Stayed in bed most of the day saturday and hit the local again at night, this time with an extra two people. And we met up with one of Grahams friends from work and his wife, for the second week in a row. They're alright, but they're almost too friendly! They keep inviting us back to their house (I dont think they even know my name!) Plus, they smoke, and I don't really enjoy breathing in other peoples smoke, ugh.
Had a crazy night last night, tried to control unruly adolescent boys and failed. Then piled in Grahams for tea, Lauren went crazy, we looked at jupiter through Grahams telescope (wow) Ryan was crapping his pants about the jury service he started today, and then Lauren went into some sort of mood and went off in a huff.
Hardly slept at all, largely due to a zillion things on my mind and having a freaky, disturbing dream.
Today both my boss and Kate are off, I've answered the phone non-stop, and been shouted at by a welshman twice. Git.
